Children’s Quarter
This website is written by Children’s Quarter. Children’s Quarter is schools, charities and local groups in and around Birmingham. We work together to help ALL children and young people to be included in things.
That means we :
- Include disabled young people in sports, arts and play during school holidays.
- Make sure children in families with problems can join in too.
- Welcome all kinds of children and young people to have fun and adventure together.
Children’s Quarter is a co-operative. It is a kind of business run so everyone who takes part benefits. (We call it ‘mutual aid’).
Our Partners
Our Members are schools, charities and local groups. The ones that are working with us on Resolutions in 2024/25 are :
- Ackers Adventure in Small Heath
- Balsall Heath CATS
- Hamstead Hall Academy in Handsworth Wood
- Newbigin Community Trust in Winson Green
- Norton Hall Children and Family Centre in Saltley
- Open House CIC in Kings Norton.
They are helping young people aged 12-16 in Birmingham to have an adventure during Christmas and New Year… and to make a Resolution. That is : a promise for the year ahead.
Our partners are helping young people to:
- go skiing and ice skating
- learn First Aid and other useful skills
- have fun trampolining and rock climbing
- find out about how to work together as a team.
They are also helping young people to think up a promise for the year ahead. This is called a resolution.
Your resolution can be anything to do with making life happier and better. It can be to do with learning a new skill, or being a kind person. It can be to do with your family, or your school. Or the place you live. It can be about changing the world for the better. This website gives some examples. It might help you think of the change you want to make.
Or you can think up something for yourself. Your Resolution is up to you. You can keep it private. Or share it with family, friends, teachers or youth workers. It’s your choice. If you would like, you can use the form on this website to share it with others online. If you do share any information with us, we will keep it safe. If you would like us to keep in touch, your parents will need to give their consent.
Our Supporters
Arranging trips out during Christmas and New Year costs money. Our partners have many volunteers. They get things donated by local business and families. But they do have to pay for food, venue hire and skilled staff to make sure things are safe. Through Children’s Quarter, they get a grant from Bring It On Brum.
Bring It On Brum is a project which is backed by Birmingham City Council. It is run by a charity called Street Games. And it is funded by the Government as part of its Holiday Activities and Food Fund.
We’re all grateful to the people that back Resolutions: the volunteers and local heroes, the donors, Birmingham City Council, Street Games and the Government. We say thank you for making this adventure possible. For investing in the promise of young people in our city in the year ahead.
